For the first time in over six years, Manchester is to host rock legends Deep Purple as part of their ‘The Long Goodbye Tour’, celebrating their 20th studio album inFinite.
The band – made up of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey – will bring special guests Europe when they play at Manchester Arena on Saturday, November 18.
It’s expected that there will be a euphoric atmosphere when the two world-renowned acts perform in front of thousands of Mancunians.
Deep Purple are known as pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, as well as for having diversified their sound several times over the course of their career.
Formed in Hertford in 1968, they have notably shifted from progressive rock to heavy metal during their tenure.
In Rock, released in 1970, was the band’s first album to sell over a million copies, with their single Black Night almost topping the UK charts.
Other hit albums followed, such as Machine Head and Made in Japan, which kept Deep Purple on an upward root to fame and glory as their fan base grew bigger and bigger.
The musicians toured the world, selling out arenas with the track Smoke On The Water raising them up to mega-status.
Meanwhile, Europe – best known for the song The Final Countdown – have enjoyed similar success while together.
The band are currently riding a wave of momentum after releasing their new album Walk The Earth in October.
