Viral sensation Walk Off The Earth set to step on stage at Manchester Academy

Get ready for a real feel-good show at the Manchester Academy on October 2 as Canadian internet sensation Walk Off The Earth play their first show in the city.

The talented five piece band, who rose to fame after their online cover of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know – where the whole band is seen playing one guitar between them – have signed to Columbia Records, releasing three studio albums and touring extensively.

The band have continued to win over their online fans with regularly uploaded covers that have elicited huge attention from celebrities such as Russell Crowe and Ellen DeGeneres, and garnered over two million subscribers to their YouTube channel.

Their latest album, Sing It All Away, was released in June and has already seen first single ‘Rule The World’ chart at number 22 in Canada.

The translation of their success from amateur online platforms to traditional record sales is almost unique and perhaps most readily attributed to their happy, feel-good sound with an unconventional and fun-loving style of performance.

Lead singer Sarah Blackwood’s folksy vocals are impressively powerful and are supported by the four male members’ neat harmonies.

Together with the simple playful melodies from multiple instrument, the band’s voices create a collaborative, experimental and above all, celebratory sound and feel.

Be prepared for an energetic and colourful performance of the band’s clean-cut alternative indie music alongside some fun interpretations of classic chart hits.

Walk Off The Earth play at the Manchester Academy on Friday October 2 at 7pm. Tickets are available here.
