Up-and-coming Manchester band Sixty Minute Man made the walls shake on Saturday at the Deaf Institute when they wowed the crowd with their original songs.
They are six young men, full of energy and creativity and they gave it their all in the name of music.
The alternative rock band played their set of six tracks – Matchstick Town, Silver Sun, The Warnings Calling, Bang, Ten Men and Weightlessness – which have all the potential to make waves across Manchester.
Upon entering the stage the musicians were well received by the audience, who enjoyed the short but intense and memorable performance.
The band currently comprises Darren Beesley – vocals, Lee Fox and Sean Duffy – guitar, Dan Hamnett – bass, Adam Lyons – keyboard and Scott Beesley – drums.
Initially forming in 2008 out of the boys’ sheer love for music and after going through some ups and downs, they reappeared in 2013 under the name Sixty Minute Man.
Not entirely new to the Manchester music scene, the band has already played in and around the area for a number of years and built a fan base.
And the musicians were overwhelmed by the huge support.
“We enjoyed the gig and were happy with how many people came,” said Dan, after stepping down from the scene after a passionate stage performance.
After not being originally called Sixty Minute Man, the name came up by chance and could become well-known throughout the music world.
“The name Sixty Minute Man has been thrown about the band for years and it was originally suggested to be the name of our first album we recorded but it never fabricated,” admitted Dan, whose fine songwriting gives that unique Joe Bonamassa nostalgic touch to the songs.
“When we wanted to change the name of the band, we decided on Sixty Minute Man.”
Influenced by the work of great artists such Noel Gallagher, Kelly Jone, Eric Clapton and true to the alternative rock genre, the band’s songs are a mix of hard elements, soft notes and jangling guitar chords that mix together in an intricate but smooth and poignant sound.
The band’s début EP has already been recorded and mastered at Blueprint Studios in Manchester and is now waiting to be pressed and is looking at a launch date for the beginning of September.
For those who want to hear something new and different, a breath of fresh air in the alternative rock scene, Sixty Minute Man will rock again in July at the Ruby Lounge.
