The ‘Wait for It’ is almost over: smash hit Broadway musical ‘Hamilton’ opens at the Palace Theatre, in under two months time.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning production, which has also had successful runs in London’s West End, kicks off its first ever UK and Ireland tour in Manchester on 11 November.
The musical will continue its run here until Saturday 24 February 2024, before travelling to Edinburgh, Bristol and Birmingham in the first half of next year.
The story follows the life of American founding father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became a leading figure of the War of Independence and one of the key movers and shakers of early US politics.
The score presents a very modern take on an old story, blending hip-hop, RnB, jazz, blues, rap, and Broadway tunes – ‘the story of America then, as told by America now,’ the Palace Theatre said.
‘Hamilton’ has won a string of glittering accolades: 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, 7 Olivier Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
The starry UK cast features Shaq Taylor as Alexander Hamilton, Sam Oladeinde as Aaron Burr, Gabriela Benedetti as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, and Maya Britto as Eliza Hamilton, among many others.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh said: “[Co-producer] Jeffrey Seller and I are thrilled to introduce this hugely talented cast for the first ever UK and Ireland Tour of Hamilton.
“I was fortunate to be in ‘the room where it happens’ earlier this week for the start of rehearsals and feel very proud that we will soon have two brilliant companies of Hamilton in the UK.
“Jeffrey and I cannot wait for audiences around the country to discover, or enjoy again, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s revolutionary musical phenomenon.”
