A plethora of big names in the Manchester music scene gathered at Band on The Wall for the inaugural Northern Music Awards launch event.
Nordoff & Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity, hosted the launch event for the inaugural Northern Music Awards at iconic music venue Band on the Wall in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
Musicians, philanthropists and cultural figures gathered for Thursday’s event that sought to generate excitement and donations for the first-time initiative.
The awards night, set to take place on November 30 this year, will celebrate the range of musical talent on offer in the north of England, and aims to raise money for a dedicated music therapy space in Salford.
Nadra Shah, Director of Engagement and Communications at Nordoff & Robbins, said: “The money raised will fund a first-of-its-kind centre in the North, featuring a sensory room, accessible music technology and a recording studio.
“The space will open up new possibilities to connect with the local community, delivering transformational music therapy right here in the North West.”
BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins was in charge of curating the acts on the night, with performances from Mancunian artists Anthony Szmierek, Joash and The K’s offering a glimpse of what music fans can expect at the awards later this year.
