New music from Manchester artist Jsky

A multifaceted Mancunian artist has new music on the way and it’s already making waves in all the right circles.

Singer/songwriter and fashionista Jsky, from Bury, is known for his DJ sets on Gaydio and BBC Radio Manchester. He is also a host for Channel 4 show Naked Beach, and has appeared on This Morning, Gogglebox and First Dates. It’s safe to say that both his style and creativity are treasured in these spaces.

His new single ‘Put It Pon Dem’ is a captivating dancehall song, and is a great listen no matter what mood you are in. Produced by Lou Xtwo – who has worked with Chris Brown, Tory Lanez and Bad Bunny. And mastered by music engineer MixedByJocelin – who has worked with Not3s and AJ Tracey – the song features Newcastle artist Sebastenelli.

Sebastenelli collaborated with Jsky on a song called ‘Things, Pt. 2’ last year, which aired on BBC Introducing and BBC 1Xtra.

Jsky said: “I love working with Sebastenelli. Not only does he make me look cool, but he is such an exciting talent and such an incredible person to be around. He always rises to the challenge. I’ve got so much love for him.”

The pair performed ‘Put It Pon Dem’ at Manchester Pride last year during Jsky’s headline slot, which was watched by thousands of people. The song has since featured on BBC Radio Manchester during a live interview.

CEO of Manchester Pride Mark Fletcher said: “Dancehall spins into queer culture with allyship… Only an artist like Jsky could pull this off.”

Jsky was named one of Manchester’s most influential “changemakers and unsung heroes” alongside Marcus Rashford by Manchester Evening News. He has supported artists such as Tom Zanetti, Misha B and Lady Ice, and was accredited as a “Pioneer of Colour” by the LGBT Foundation alongside Lizzo and RuPaul.

He said: “It can be hard for new artists to have impact or longevity. It really helps if you have a good message to put out there.”

Jsky’s advice to aspiring artists is for them to stay true to who they are, and to find strength in their own story.

‘Put It Pon Dem’ by Jsky (feat. Sebastenelli) is out on 11 April 2025 via WorldofJsky Records, and will be available across all streaming platforms.
