An art event in Manchester is aiming to bring together all types of people through pottery.
Paintvine’s Sip and Sculpt invites those with any level of artistic experience to take part in their event.
The event typically welcomes beginners, seeing a big turnout from those with corporate jobs who want to do something more creative in their spare time to unwind.
Expert artists lead the sessions teaching skills in a relaxed, social setting – many of the teachers have always had a passion for sculpting and wanted to help others try a new hobby that might otherwise seem daunting.
Lead artist, Emma, studied ceramics at university and wanted to help people learn a new skill.
She said: “I love meeting people and seeing their creative visions come to life.
“I get to teach something I love.”
All sorts of groups come along – siblings, work parties and couples all come along to sculpt.
However, Paintvine also encourage individuals to come along and make new friends, as the group tables encourage a social environment.
Emma said: “People really do make friends sat at those tables, doesn’t matter if they came in a pair, everyone socialises with each other and it is so nice to see.”
Painted provide all the materials and let you take home your artwork once complete – they even clean up after you.
Drinks are available to purchase at the event, with some attendees saying the sipping certainly helped with the sculpting.
One attendee, Lisa, said: “Definitely had more imagination the more we drank.
“I’m happy with what I made, it’s not very professional looking but it was made with love.”
Paintvine hold events across the country and also do other creative classes including Paint and Sip, where attendees are taught the basics of painting with acrylics on canvas.
