Queue stretches across four streets for Laura Marling matinee

A queue of excited Laura Marling fans stretched across four streets this afternoon ahead of her matinee show at the Albert Hall.

Security and staff from the venue guided around 1,000 people through multiple streets to attend the sold-out show.

Forming around 12:30pm this afternoon, the queue’s tail end reached Mount Street, snaking through Bootle Street, Marron Place, and finally to Peter Street and the venue.

Spirits among the soon-to-be audience members were high, with people telling us they’d travelled from Liverpool, Leeds, Bath and even as far as Dublin.

Peter Ralph, 44, and Sinead Ralph, 43 flew in from Dublin on Thursday morning, and said “we’ve just been saying, the pub’s got our name!” indicating towards the much loved Sir Ralph Abercromby.

Audience members we spoke to were excited to hear songs such as Soothing, Strange Girl and Child of Mine.

Several mentioned a strong connection to her writing about motherhood, although they were pleased to be able to attend a matinee show while the kids were still in school.

Laura Marling released her new album ‘Patterns in Repeat’ last year. Today’s matinee show was added due to high demand, after the Wednesday and Thursday shows sold out.
