A masked gang who raided a post office in Wigan armed with crowbars and a knife are being tracked down by police.
The robbery took place at around 6.30pm on Friday May 22 when a red Honda civic pulled up outside the post office/Londis store on Atherton Road, Hindley Green.
Three masked men clad in balaclavas, two of whom were armed with crowbars and the other carrying a knife, got out of the car and went into the premises, while a fourth man stayed sat in the driver’s seat of the Civic.
The three men threatened and intimidated staff in the store and stole a large sum of cash from the tills, as well as numerous packs of cigarettes befoe getting back into the car and making off in the general direction of Wigan Road.
Detective Constable Andrew Partington, based at Leigh police station said: “The staff who were working in the post office at the time have understandably been left extremely distressed after being confronted and threatened by these men.
“I am interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen this Honda Civic car before or after the incident, or anyone who may have any information about those who may be responsible for this crime.”
The men were all wearing balaclavas and casual sports clothing.
