Looking for a challenge, Manchester? How about four of them?
A new city-wide charity event is looking for teams to sign up and take on the challenge to raise £400,000 for four charities through four challenges.
Raising money for four local and national charities: Mustard Tree, Duchenne Now, Dogs Trust and Challenge Cancer UK, the events will run from September 2015 to May 2016.
The four challenges are abseiling, rafting, a ‘Get Me Out of Here’ challenge and a chance to beat The Crystal Maze.
The abseil will be from the tallest building in Spinningfields, at a drop of 100ft!
The rafting is due to set sail from Salford Quays, where teams of eight will be hoping to stay afloat.
‘Get Me Out of Here’ sees team trek to the outbacks of Lancashire, with – of course – a food taste test.
And to defeat the Crystal Maze you must work your way through the ‘zones’ to the formidable Dome Finale.
The challenges are team-building activities and as well as making friendships and teamwork Challenge Manchester want to grow the sense of community spirit across Manchester.
The idea is to get together a team of mates or co-workers and attempt one or all of these challenges and in doing so raise money.
Challenge Manchester is appealing for Manchester businesses to get in touch and submit a team who can really step up to the plate.
When Challenge Manchester asked Dogs Trust what £100,000 would mean to them they said: “Dogs Trust relies entirely on donations from the dog-loving public as we don’t receive any government funding.
“To keep the centre open and give the dogs the best care possible whilst they are with us costs £2,000 a day, so the donation from Challenge Manchester is absolutely vital to us if we are to be able to continue to find our dogs their ‘furever’ homes.”
To sign up, find your team and go to Challenge Manchester to do your part in rising to the challenge.
