Lancashire Women’s captain Jasmine Titmuss believes that being part of a united cricket club will help to bridge the gap between the men’s and women’s game.
This April marked the first time the women’s squad have joined their male counterparts at the pre-season media day at the club’s Old Trafford ground.
After achieving promotion to Division One last year, 26-year-old Titmuss is delighted to see her side sharing some of the limelight with the men’s setup.
“It’s the first time ever that we have shared the media day with the men, so that is fantastic,” she said.
“We’ve gone through so many years of getting a sponsor here and there, not really getting much coverage, and we’ve got some really talented cricketers so the more they are shown off, the more it will help the game.
“There has been a divide between the men’s side because they are professional and the women’s side because we are playing at local clubs, but hopefully this will bridge it and we might convince them to have a game here at Old Trafford in the next couple of years!”
The two squads posed together for team photos in front of the waiting media, with Titmuss and England international Kate Cross garnering the most attention from the cameras.

The women’s team also took the opportunity to formally launch LCB Thunder as their brand for the forthcoming season, designed to help promote the image of the side.
“It’s a great opportunity to link the women’s team with the men’s,” said Titmuss.
“To be involved in Lancashire is fantastic, and with us wearing the same kit gives a very good feeling of ‘Team Lancashire’.”
It was also one of the first opportunities to see new Australian signing Meg Phillips, who has come over from Tasmanian Roar on an Adam Gilchrist Scholarship.
Titmuss was enthusiastic when musing on the impact the 19-year-old could have on the squad.
“She’s still young but I think we’re going to see some good things from her,” she said.
“She’s come to experience cricket over here and look to break in to the Australia squad, and they’re over here this summer so there may be a chance of here being seen if she performs well.
“Hopefully we’ll see some big things from her.”
