Wigan Athletic manager Malky Mackay has said that their supporters fully deserve the three points the team clinched against Norwich City last night after travelling five hours to Norfolk.
Last week Wigan fans came together to sing 90 songs in 90 minutes which has since resulted in back-to-back wins for the Latics against Blackpool and the Canaries.
Kim Bo-Kyung was the only goalscorer in a 1-0 victory that moved Wigan to within six points of safety and Mackay wants to continue to reward the fans with even more entertaining displays.
He said: “Nobody deserves the three points more than those supporters who travelled all this way to Norwich.
“I know just how difficult it is to get here, especially on a midweek evening having done the journey myself so many times, and every single supporter who made it down is a shining example of the passion within this club.”
Norwich had previously won six in a row whereas Wigan’s next opponents Leeds United are in much less consistent form.
Mackay has admitted that his side were facing the ‘best squad in the division’ and after overcoming them, they can surely go into the match against Leeds with blooming confidence.
He added: “It was a very disciplined performance from our players, we are starting to see things clicking together and there’s a resilience in the team right now.
“Now we’ve got to give all of our supporters something to really believe in on Saturday when we play Leeds, it’s another massive game for us and we’ll give 100% to deliver.”
