Two masked robbers fled the scene of a violent home invasion in which they battered the homeowner – after they were scared off by the victim’s 11-year-old daughter.
The two offenders, both wearing balaclavas, raided the 48-year-old victim’s house on Marlborough Avenue, Wigan, at around 7.40pm on Monday.
Though the dad tried his best to fight off his two attackers, the vicious flurry of kicks and punches forced him to the ground as they demanded property from him.
Grabbing the victim by his throat, the duo dragged him into the hall, where he was pinned down while one offender made his way upstairs to search the victim’s bedrooms.
The violent tirade came to a holt when the male victim’s 11-year-old daughter entered the house after returning from a nearby shop – scaring the pair off.
They fled with just £40 from the victim’s wallet.
Detective Constable Stuart Woodhead said: “They attacked a man in his own home and strangely enough it is lucky that his young daughter arrived home when she did, as they could have continued to injure the victim.
“Fortunately they were not prepared to continue the attack while the young girl was in the house and so they fled relatively empty-handed.”
The police are now hunting for a white male who was wearing a light grey Converse sweatshirt with matching jogging bottoms, blue Nike trainers and a balaclava.
His assailant, also white, wore a purple jacket, stonewashed jeans, trainers and a balaclava.
DC Woodhead said: “This was a violent robbery in which the men were prepared to inflict damage and injury to achieve their aims.”
