Some of the biggest names in hip-hop and dance music will descend on Manchester between April 16 and April 19 for the Red Bull Music Academy UK Tour.
The four day festival features club nights, live radio broadcasts, lectures, workshops and exhibitions across some of the city’s most iconic venues.
Manchester is the last stop on a tour that will also visit Glasgow, Bristol and London with almost 200 artists taking part in 36 events across the four cities.
A Red Bull Music Academy spokesman said: “We’re fully expecting to turn the UK music scene on its head.
“We’re bringing together the effervescence of these four cities’ unrivalled cultural heartbeats, alongside a roster of globe-trotting legends, pioneers, and all-round music superstars.
“The Red Bull Music Academy UK Tour is about celebrating the ever-evolving, ever-expanding, sky-rocketing breadth of talent that comes from these fair shores, alongside Red Bull Music Academy’s worldwide dedication to new artists and stratospheric legends.”
The event kicks off at with a special In Conversation lecture at The Studio Gorilla with grime legend Skepta discussing the genre’s recent resurgence.
Club nights dominate the weekend’s action, with Detroit techno pioneer Derrick May heading a formidable line-up alongside Birmingham’s Surgeon at Sankeys on Friday night.
Omar-S will top a night at South Nightclub on April 17 and Zed Bias will lead a night dedicated to Manchester’s established and emerging DJs at Antwerp Mansion on April 18.
Later in the festival hip-hop duo PRhyme will give fans and aspiring musicians an insight into their recording process with a Studio Science workshop at NQ 2022.
