A desperate Oldham robber who threatened two female dog walkers to hand over their bags because he had ‘four kids to feed’ is being hunted by police.
The victims, aged 64 and 71, were walking along Wastwater Street at around 10.35am on Sunday February 1 when the offender approached them.
One woman agreed she would get him some money and went to a nearby house where she raised the alarm but as the man walked off empty handed, he threatened to kick the ‘dog’s head in’ as well as stab the women.
Detective Constable Simon Moyles said: “The two women had been walking their dogs, as they routinely do together, and to be confronted with such threats and intimidation has caused them considerable distress.”
The offender is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, in his late 20s, of slim build with black hair. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper and blue tracksuit trousers.
“Indeed the area is popular with other dog walkers and members of the community, all of whom will be outraged to hear of this incident and I would encourage anyone who saw anything or who has information to call us,” he said.
“There is no reason not to believe that this man was telling the truth when he talked about the number of mouths he has to feed, so if this detail allied with the description provided sounds like someone you know, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9063, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
