Knife-wielding thugs tie up and rob Salford shopworker – before torching his car

Two thieves armed with a knife and a crowbar robbed and tied up a Salford shop worker before stealing and torching his car last night.

The 26-year-old victim was loading a vehicle outside a shop on Cobden Street, Pendleton when he was approached by the two men between 8:25 and 9pm last night, Thursday December 18.

The two offenders forced the victim into the shop and tied him up before fleeing with cash and phones.They also stole his black Renault Megane – which was found burnt out on Water Street, Swinton shortly after.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor said: “The employee was left shaken by his terrifying ordeal and we need the public’s help to identify these offenders.”

The first offender is described as a 5ft 5/6in tall, 25-26-year-old white man of slim build with a Manchester accent. He was wearing a black hooded top which was tied closely around his face with black joggers and a black woollen hat.

He was armed with a yellow and black crowbar which was larger than a foot long.

The second offender is described as a 5ft 8/9in tall, 25-26-year-old white man of slim build with a short red beard. He was wearing a black waterproof jacket which he had zipped up to his mouth and the hood round his head tightly.

He was carrying a knife believed to be around 7 inches long – with a black handle.
