The family of Northern Uproar guitarist Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Fletcher, who was killed in a horrific lorry accident in Stockport, have paid tribute to their ‘gentle giant’.
Jeff was killed instantly in a harrowing collision involving a lorry on Wellington Road South while out walking in his home town of Stockport at around 2.45pm Monday.
The 36-year-old was pronounced dead following the harrowing collision near the junction of Longshut Lane. He had suffered fatal head injuries.
Jeff’s family said: “We wish to remember our loving, caring, gentle giant Jeffrey Fletcher for his love of music, his talent on lead guitar and most of all, his infectious laugh.
“The outpour of love and wishes from friends old and new shows us how loved he has been and this is a comfort to his family.
“We cannot comprehend the fairness of a loss of someone who had such success as a young man to have had his life cut so short in such a tragic and sudden way.
“He will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him. Goodnight Jeff.”

Members of the Northern Uproar, who rose to fame in the 90s as part of the Brit Pop era, said on their Facebook page: “We are at Giants’ Causeway in Ireland, we have been saying goodbye to a gentle giant, our friend and band mate. We are playing a few of his songs tonight.”
The driver of the heavy goods vehicle that was involved in the fatal collision stayed at the scene to aid police with their enquires.
No formal arrests have been made.
Senior Investigating Officer Sergeant Lee Westhead said: “Our thoughts are with Jeffrey’s family at this difficult time.
“Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are currently investigating the incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed the actual collision or has information about Jeffrey’s whereabouts immediately before the collision, to contact us.”
