A blue-haired pair of twins are camping outside Manchester venue The Ritz for 24 hours on the coldest day of the year so far in a desperate bid to get within touching distance of their hero.
Mickey and India Mycock, 23, are huge fans of ex-My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way – even having a scribble he wrote on their arm permanently tattooed.
The duo, originally from Essex, have travelled from University in Huddersfield to watch ‘the emo king’ play a sell-out gig for the 10th time.
US singer Way is in Manchester tonight for the first night of his UK Hesitant Alien tour.
TATTOOED TWINS: Mickey and India Mycock had a scribble from Gerard Way permanently tattooed onto their arm
India told MM: “We’ve followed him since we were 17; he’s the only person we’d do this for. Getting to watch a show on the barrier, nothing beats that so that’s why we’re making sure we get to the front.
“I’m not surprised it’s like this. If it was a My Chemical Romance show it would be absolutely insane now, there would just be people queuing everywhere. We’ve seen people climb over barriers to get to him.
“We’ve been lucky enough to meet him and he’s such a nice, down to earth guy. He pulled us on stage once at a gig in London and we got to sing with him which was insane and then we went backstage and he signed my arm and then I went and got it tattooed.”
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Tarrah Gardiner and Danie Connelly came down from Scotland to see Gerard and will be following him back to Glasgow tomorrow
And the girls aren’t the only dedicated fans in the queue with inked tributes to the No Shows singer.
Tarrah Gardiner, 23, and Danie Connelly, from Livingston, have travelled from Scotland to see tonight’s show and both have the singer’s name tattooed on their arms.
The girls are currently heading up a queue of dedicated fans which stretches up the block from the Whitworth Street venue.
Some fans arrived outside as early as 1am, armed with sleeping bags and pillows, more than 18 hours before the doors are due to open.
TATT’S THE WAY: Gerard Way’s name and figure in tattoo form on Tarrah’s arm
Tarrah told MM: “We just love everything about him, he wouldn’t even need to sing, just stand there. I just can’t wait to see his face.
“I’m excited to hear all the new stuff, this is the first night of this tour that’s why we had to make sure we were hear.
“We’re travelling back home tonight because he’s got a show in Glasgow on Friday so we’re going to that too.”
A Level students Charlotte, Kate, Hayley and Charlotte, all aged 17 and from Liverpool, have even bunked a day off from Sixth Form to get the best spot they can at the sell-out gig.
Hayley said: “I’m so excited I just can’t wait to see him on stage, he’s the emo king.
“My Chemical Romance are my favourite band but they broke up before I got to see them and I was absolutely gutted so this is the next best thing getting to see him play.
“It’s definitely going to be worth queuing in the freezing cold, I can’t wait to see him.”
THE BLACK PARADE: Fans of the ’emo king’ line the streets outside the Ritz
Gerard Way rose to fame in 2002 as frontman of American rock band My Chemical Romance and enjoyed huge success with albums including The Black Parade which included hit singles I Don’t Love You, Famous Last Words and Teenagers.
The 37-year-old announced details of his first debut album in May 2014 and unveiled a new brit-pop inspired sound at Leeds and Reading festival this summer.
