Bury manager David Flitcroft is adamant he is staying put despite being linked with the vacant manager’s role at Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
The Trotters parted company with Dougie Freedman last Friday and reports over the weekend have linked the former Barnsley boss with the position.
However Flitcroft was quick to reassure Shakers fans that his future lies at the JD Stadium and that he is fully focussed on the task at hand.
“One thing I’m about is loyalty, I’ve got a project here and I really do love coming into this place to work,” he said.
“There’s nobody in this squad that doesn’t deserve the right to be in the team and you’ve got to be on your A game to keep earning a place.
“There will be a science on who we pick and don’t pick on Tuesday, but it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to keep some momentum going,” he added.
Morecambe are the visitors on Tuesday night in a Football League Trophy fixture and Bury are in fine form going into the game having won four of their last five.
A 2-0 home win over struggling Tranmere Rovers last weekend saw the Shakers return to the League Two summit and they now sit one point clear after 11 games.
Kelvin Etuhu took advantage after Rovers failed to clear a corner fully and rifled into the net before substitute Daniel Nardiello headed in to secure the points.
Manchester City academy graduate Etuhu said: “It’s always good to be job of the league – it’s a great feeling.
“The key is to stay in and around the top and not get carried away.”
“Our home performances are very important because we’re in front of our fans and we want to do well – everybody knows promotion winning sides have good home records.”
