Bury are ambitious, Tranmere aren’t… so I moved: Ryan Lowe adds heat to League Two clash

Bury striker Ryan Lowe has added spice to Saturday’s clash with Tranmere Rovers by saying he could no longer stay at his former club due to their lack of ambition.

Bury can return to the top of the table with a win, after dropping to third following last weekend’s defeat away at Exeter City.

Striker Lowe is adamant that he made the right choice leaving recently relegated Rovers in a controversial summer move back to Bury.

“It’s just another team to me, it’s just another game – it doesn’t matter who it is,” said the 36-year-old.

“I didn’t want to stay at a non-ambitious club, the chairman [Stewart Day] put his money where his mouth was and they were quick to sell me.

“We’re not just here to finish second or third, if you can go up as champions – then you want to be champions,” he added.

Lowe is expecting a hot reception from the away fans but has said that he will not be distracted and will concentrate on maintaining his professionalism.

Upon announcing his return to the JD, Tranmere fans were quick to take to Twitter to make their feelings known and it is clearly still a contentious issue.

The Liverpool born striker had hoped to extend his Rovers stay before Bury made their move and he has formed a lethal partnership with Danny Rose.

The Shakers have the best goal difference in League Two and will be looking for Lowe and Rose to lead the line again this weekend.

A minute’s applause will be taking place before kick-off, in honour of the recently deceased life time supporter and current president Fred Mason.

Mason’s funeral will take place on Monday October 6 after the newly formed Bury FC Ladies outfit play their first game this Sunday.

Kendal Town are the visitors to the JD Stadium in a 2pm kick off and with entry priced at just £2 per person, the club are hoping for a strong crowd.

Launched in partnership with SAPAS and ‘I Will If You Will’ the team’s aim is to inspire women across Bury to become more active.
