Trains have been cancelled or diverted through Stockport station as a trespasser is currently on the viaduct.
Reports from bystanders are that the train and bus station have been closed and police and ambulance services are currently at the scene after a woman was spotted around 7.30am.
A National Rail spokesperson said: “A trespasser on Stockport viaduct means that trains in the area are unable to run.
“Some services may be diverted where possible, not calling at the station. There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 11am.
“Buses have been requested and a limited number are in operation between Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent / Wilmslow.”
