Gay and bisexual men across Greater Manchester will be celebrating with the Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) in recognition of 20 years of safer-sex packs.
The Condom and Lube Distribution Scheme, which is one of the longest running and most highly regarded schemes in the UK, aims to ensure men are kept safe when having sex.
And each year more than 500,000 individual condoms and 500,000 sachets of water-based lube are distributed to prevent the spread of HIV and other STIs.
Paul Martin OBE, Chief Executive of The Lesbian and Gay Foundation, said: “It’s only because of the continued support of Greater Manchester’s Local Authorities and those who support the scheme, such as Manchester Pride, that the Condom & Lube Distribution Scheme for gay and bisexual men remains free of charge, every day of the year.”
Originated by Healthy Gay Manchester in 1994 the scheme has been continued by The Lesbian and Gay Foundation which formed in 2000 when HGM and Manchester Lesbian and Gay Switchboard Services combined.
And packs are available in more than 180 venues across Greater Manchester.
