Snoop Dogg earned himself a real treat when cookies made by Manchester’s Women’s Institute found their way to him when he played at Gorilla last week.
The hip hop icon munched cookies bought from the bake sale run by the WI at Dig the City festival.
Unfortunately for the rapper, these cookies were made for the general public, and contained none of the green stuff.
Amy Newlove, WI organiser, told MM: “There we were, doing our thing, selling cakes and admiring the Morris dancers when one of the helpers from Dig the City came over and said she was buying some of our cookies to take as a present to Snoop Dogg who she was working with that night.
“The next thing we know we have the picture of her with him saying thanks for the cookies.”

Over the Dig the City weekend the group raised £200 for charity. Alongside raising money for the Manchester WI, they choose a local charity each year to support, and this year is MASH (Manchester Action on Street Health), which works with the sex workers in Greater Manchester, offering them confidential and non-judgemental services.
The ladies were showered with an array of great donations for their raffle from local businesses such as Stanley Chow Illustration, Rebecca Lupton Photography, Ladies Hair Boutique and The Dancehouse Theatre.
Formed in 2012, the WI Manchester was a first in the history of the city, members are aged between 20 to 60, and their careers span from associate directors to trainee solicitors and art students.
The group try to put a modern twist on traditional WI format, revisiting skills such as jam making, knitting, and sewing, whilst also giving time over to subjects relative to today’s women such as upcycling, craftivism and community involvement.
When news got out about the world famous rapper chomping on their baked goods, there was only one way to toast the occasion.
Amy laughed: “We all celebrated that night with a gin and juice!”
