Cruel thieves have been told they ‘should be ashamed of themselves’ after a carer’s home was burgled and cash was swiped.
The burglary happened at her Heywood home in Millbank Court sometime between 6am and 12.45pm on June 25.
The woman left home early in the morning to visit her mum’s house nearby as she is her full-time carer.
However when she returned home she was distraught to find thieves had broken into her house and stolen cash.
Detective Constable Nick Price said: “This was a sickening break-in at the home of a woman who was out looking after her elderly mother.
“Whether or not the thieves know why she was out is something we will be investigating, but I hope when they see this appeal and realise what they have done they are ashamed of themselves.
“Anyone who has been a victim of burglary will know just how upsetting it is to have the sanctity of your own house invaded and the distress of knowing someone has been in your home and going through your belongings.
“For those reasons it is vital we find whoever is responsible for this burglary and bring them to justice.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information or who suspects who may be involved to call us.”
Anyone with information should call police on 01618568577 or 01618568701 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
