Marouane felled? Manchester United man Fellaini could miss Belgium’s World Cup crunch match with USA

Belgium manager Marc Wilmots is not the only one with a headache ahead of tonight’s last 16 World Cup clash with the USA.

The European country’s midfielder Marouane Fellaini is an injury doubt with a sore thigh like attacker Mousa Dembele, while captain Vincent Kompany is rated as even more unlikely to feature for Wilmots’ unbeaten troops.

However opposite number Jurgen Klinsmann, the former German international, is concerned that an Algerian referee has been appointed to oversee the battle.

“Is it a good theory? No,” he said. “We hope it’s not a concern.”

Djamel Haimoudi will officiate the Salvador tie, with Klinsmann alert to the fact that the referee speaks French like the Belgians.

What’s more, the USA booted Algeria out of the last World Cup to reach the knockout stages ahead of the Africans.

“I understand it’s difficult for Fifa to choose the right referees for the right games and it has always been tricky for Fifa, but it is what it is,” added Klinsmann.
