Bomb disposal experts are being called to deal with a suspicious package found outside a Middleton benefits office this morning.
Police were called around 5am when a suspicious package was discovered outside the Job Centre on Oldham Road, not far from Middleton Arena.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is currently en-route to the scene.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the now heavily-congested area and cordons are already in place as a precaution.
Road closures are in place between the junctions Assheton Way and Long Street, Oldham Road and Townley Street, Ashton Lane and Oldham Road and Oldham Road and Manchester New Road.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
