These are the touching words from Robert Hart’s family after he lost a week-long battle following a ‘brutal attack’ in front of his loving girlfriend a the Parklife Weekender Festival.

Robert, 26, from Macclesfield, was attacked after the offender hit his girlfriend, Gemma Parry, with an inflatable doll, moments before headliner Snoop Dogg was due to perform on Saturday night.

After being treated by off-duty paramedics he was taken to North Manchester General Hospital, then transferred to Hope Hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Robert sadly lost his battle and passed away in hospital.

In a short statement, his family paid tribute to their tragic loss: “Robert’s loss of life through his love of music have left his family and friends and empty and beyond pain.”

Since the news broke tributes have been flooding social media sites to pay condolences to Robert and his loved ones.

Parklife’s organisers also released an statement following the news. They said: “Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to Robert’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We will continue to assist Greater Manchester Police with its investigation and urge anyone that may have witnessed the incident to contact the Police through any official channel available to them.”

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have any information regarding the attack.
