Parklife partygoers have been warned to drink responsibly or risk being dealt with by Greater Manchester Police when they head to the popular summer festival this weekend.
Tens of thousands of visitors will descend on Heaton Park to watch their favourite musicians perform for the two-day event.
Parklife, now in its fourth year, will welcome the likes of Snoop Dogg and Public Enemy to the stage.
Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry said: “I would ask people visiting the area to drink responsibly and behave in an appropriate manner which is sensitive to the wider community.
“Our aim is to ensure everyone is safe and that they go home happy. However, anyone causing trouble or seen to be taking drugs, will be dealt with by police accordingly.”
The weekend also sees Soccer Aid take place at Old Trafford, which GMP says is a ‘brilliant opportunity to showcase Greater Manchester’.
“GMP is extremely experienced at policing large-scale events and we have been working very closely with a number of councils, the event organisers and other emergency responders to ensure that revelers and sports fans are safe and enjoy their weekend,” he said.
Festival goers have been advised to dress accordingly with the weather expected to take a turn for the worse tomorrow and police also advise those attending to plan ahead.
Superintendent Chaudhry added: “I would suggest that visitors leave themselves plenty of time to get to the venue.
“Please park sensibly, be aware of your surroundings and keep yourself and valuables safe, particularly your bags and mobile phones.”
