A further three arrests on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder have been made following the shooting of a man in a Salford pub last week – including one as young as 16.
Two women aged 47 and 23 were also arrested in connection to the May 26 incident that occurred at the Ashley Brook Pub on Liverpool Street where a 49-year-old man was shot, allegedly seven times.
A girl aged 17 and a man, 22, were arrested on May 29 though all five have been bailed pending further enquiries on the incident.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and also to anyone who may have seen an altercation at the pub on Sunday May 25.
Superintendent Stuart Barton said: “The victim is lucky to be alive. It’s an absolute disgrace that people think they can go into a pub and discharge a weapon into innocent people.
“Although we have made arrests, I would still urge anyone who has any information as to what happened on Monday night and if anyone witnessed an altercation at 10.20pm on Sunday, to phone us.”
Police arrived at the scene at 11.30pm on Monday, after two men wearing balaclavas stormed the tavern and opened fire before leaving down an alley way in the direction of Knutsford Street.
The victim was found with gunshot wounds to his torso after police arrived.
He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary and remains in a serious but stable condition, under police guard.
“If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you may feel it is, please get in touch as it could be vital in our investigation,” added Superintendent Barton.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
