Salford pub shooting: Girl, 17, and man, 22, bailed following arrests over Ashley Brook ‘murder plot’

A 17-year-old girl and a 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in a Langworthy gun attack on Monday night have been bailed.

The pair were being held on Thursday in connection with the incident when a masked man opened fire in the Ashley Brook pub and have been bailed until August 5.

A 49-year-old man is being treated for gunshot wounds to his torso at Manchester Royal Infirmary and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police were called to the pub on Liverpool Street just after 11.30pm following reports of a shooting.

Superintendent Stuart Barton said: “Although we have made arrests, I would still urge anyone who has any information as to what happened on Monday night and if anyone witnessed an altercation at 10.20pm on Sunday, to phone us.

“Police patrols remain in the area to offer reassurance and I would ask members of the community who remain concerned of the events that took place to speak to their local officer.

“If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you may feel it is, please get in touch as it could be vital in our investigation.”

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident and also to anyone who may have seen an altercation at the pub on Sunday May 25 at 10.20pm.

Two men wearing balaclavas and hooded tops were seen entering the pub carrying firearms and then leaving via an alleyway in the direction of Knutsford Street.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
