Bolton Wanderers will be changing their stadium sponsors from the start of next season, bringing to an end their 24-year association with sports giant Reebok.
In 2012 the club changed shirt providers from Reebok to Adidas after 22 years but the stadium kept its ‘The Reebok’ name.
Now Wanderers have signed a deal with Macron to provide their shirts from next season, as well as giving the sportswear providers naming rights to the stadium.
“This is an extremely exciting and beneficial deal for our club,” Bolton Chairman Phil Gartside told the club’s website.
“We will be proud to carry the Macron brand on our stadium and on our official merchandise for the coming seasons.
“They are an ambitious and innovative company and we are looking forward to becoming one of their flagship clubs.”
The Reebok stadium was opened in 1997, replacing the club’s old ground at Burnden Park.
It was named after their long-term sponsors and the move to Adidas in 2012 ended the longest kit sponsorship association in British football.
The change of stadium name completely ends the partnership with the firm founded in Bolton in 1895 which has stood for over two decades.
Macron and Wanderers have signed an initial four-year deal and the stadium will change name for the start of next season.
“We are very proud to start this relationship with such a prestigious club as Bolton Wanderers,” Macron CEO Gianluca Pavanello said.
“We feel with this bold move of becoming a stadium naming rights partner we have been able to consolidate Macron’s brand as a major player in the European sponsorship market.
“We are now working closely together in order to create a unique collection for next season that we believe will be appreciated by the Bolton fans.”
