Salford comedian Jason Manford, who helped Stephen Sutton reach his goal of raising £1million for charity, is now launching another campaign to double the money with ‘thumbs up’ selfies.
Having smashed the original £1m target Manford is now urging people to post their own selfies with the hashtag #ThumbsUpForStephen and donate money to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
He wrote on Facebook: “Yesterday someone posted a picture of Stephen doing his ‘last thumbs up’.
“Having been ravaged by cancer, he dedicated his last few years of life to raising money and helping others.
“He did amazingly well to raise £560k, with your help and countless others all over the world we managed to fulfil his dream of raising over £1million for the Teenage Cancer Trust. You have done a cracking job.
“But why are we stopping? We haven’t cured cancer, but we can help make thousands of teenagers who are dealing with cancer, and those yet to be diagnosed, lives a hell of a lot easier.
“So please follow me on this next quest to get Stephen’s money up to two million.
“Let’s start a #thumbsupforStephen. He gave us one, let’s give him one back. Here is mine, please do one, and post it on your Facebook or twitter, or email at work and spread this remarkable boy’s good work.”
