Ashton United manager Steve Halford claims his side must ‘win all their remaining games’ if they are to stand any chance of the play-offs this year.
The Robins sit in fifth position – the final play-off spot – but need to bounce back at Stafford Rangers tomorrow after suffering a 3-1 defeat against Ilkeston FC last weekend.
Despite this, Halford was pleased with his team’s performance but is adamant that his players cannot afford any more slip-ups if they are to keep the promotion dream alive.
“If we don’t win all games then we won’t get into the play-offs – it’s as simple as that,” he told MM.
“The loss hasn’t really affected the mood too much.
“We have just had a bit of nervousness but need to get back to doing what we know we can do tomorrow.
“It has been really tight this year and in recent seasons we might even be in a higher position but football is a funny thing and there is still sure to be some twists.”
Halford is confident of securing a much-needed three points and is relishing the prospect of being able to choose from a fully-fit squad.
“Everybody is available, it is the biggest squad we have had this season which is nice to have,” he added.
The Robins had recently been in impeccable form in March, winning six out of seven games.
Eslewhere in the Evo-Stick Premier division, FC United, who currently sit second, face Buxton at home while Trafford travel to Witton Albion.
