TV weatherman Fred Talbot has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of indecent assault and of one serious sexual assault.
Talbot, 64, appeared in Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday to make his plea for the offences which are alleged to have happened during his teaching career between 1968 and 1983.
Four of the alleged victims were pupils of Talbot, of Bowden, Greater Manchester, when he was teaching at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, and one was a pupil at Elgin High in Newcastle.
Talbot has denied all charges and was released on bail until a preliminary hearing on May 27 with a trial date set for January 19 next year.
Under his bail conditions, the former ITV presenter must remain living at his home address and avoid contact with victims or witnesses.
He must also not be left unsupervised with any children.
Talbot is most famous for his stint as a presenter on ITV’s This Morning in the 1980s and 1990s.
In recent years, he has worked for ITV’s regional news programme, Granada Reports, as a weather presenter.
