A HIV charity has created a fabulous fundraising calendar of LGBT people in Manchester in an attempt to show diversity for the ‘Gays of Manchester’.
George House Trust has teamed up with photographer Lee Baxter to create the calendar of 12 portraits which highlight different backgrounds such as musicians, gay couples, owners of retail shops and even a baker to bring to life stories of Manchester and LGBT life.
George House Trust is hoping to raise more than £10,000 for their Welfare Fund which helps HIV Positive People who are facing financial hardship.
The trust also supports people living with or affected by HIV and was founded in 1985 by six gay men in Manchester.
The LGBT community still firmly continues to support the trust’s vital work through activism, fundraising, awareness raising and volunteering.
Rosie Robinson, Chief Executive of George House Trust, said: “We’ve been delighted to work with Lee on the production of such a fantastic calendar and are big fans of his work.
“George House Trust has been indebted to Manchester’s gay community for such a long time; we have always wanted to produce something that pays homage to the LGBT support we have received.
“More and more people who are diagnosed with HIV are experiencing financial hardship at the moment and every penny raised from the sales of these calendars will hopefully make over £10,000 for our Welfare Fund, which will really alleviate some of the stress and strains our service users are experiencing.
“By buying one of these calendars you are not only getting a really beautiful thing to keep for yourself or give as a gift, but you’re also doing some good for a great charity. “
The 2014 Calendar will be available to buy in various bars in Manchester’s Gay Village and online here.
