They may have been pipped to the number one spot in the UK Official Album Chart last weekend, but Queens of the Stone Age will have kept their fans satisfied by announcing a UK tour later this year.
The American rock band have pencilled in a date at Manchester Arena as part of their UK and Ireland tour in November.
It will be Josh Homme and co’s first appearance in the North West since they played at Manchester Academy in May 2011, and comes after the recent success of their sixth album …Like Clockwork.
The tour kicks off at Glasgow’s Hydro Arena on November 16, arriving in Manchester on November 20 after two separate dates in Dublin.
Described by Mojo as ‘an album truly fit to do battle with rock classics of any age’, …Like Clockwork is not only the band’s first album since 2007, it’s perhaps their best since Songs for the Deaf.
Reaching number two in the UK chart, the band have gone one better worldwide by snatching #1 in the US, Australia, Ireland and Portugal.
They are also set to perform at this weekend’s Download Festival, playing the support slot on Saturday before heavy metal giants Iron Maiden take to the stage.
My God Is The Sun, the band’s first single from the album, debuted on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show in April.
The track reached 18th on the US Billboard Alternative rock chart, and represents a heavier sound mixed in with Homme’s unmistakable voice.
The album features a number of guest appearances, including Elton John, Dave Grohl and Alex Turner.
Elton John himself declared the record was ‘probably the best rock album by any band in about five or six years’.
If you agree, make sure not to miss out.
