With the memory of Sankeys already fading and Warehouse Project 2013 ‘under construction’, the path is clear for a new dance club to assert their authority on Manchester’s clubbing scene.
Venus is far from new, but there’s no doubt they should be seizing the opportunity with both hands.
And they’re starting as they mean to go on this Friday (May 24) – shipping in Egypt’s biggest musical export (we certainly can’t think of any others) and DJ Mag Top 20-listed Aly & Fila.
The trance duo are hot off the back of their blistering A State of Trance 600 set in Mumbai in March and single We Control the Sunlight is still sending dancefloors into rapture after being voted Tune of the Year status on Armin van Buuren’s radio show of the same name in 2011.
Yet the Egyptian DJs are no mirage in the desert – they’ve earned themselves a sizeable world following from their own radio show Future Sound of Egypt, as well as drawing in accolades with their 2010 debut Rising Sun.
And now as the pair prepare for their sophomore effort Quiet Storm, due for release later this year, they embark on a world tour taking their uplifting trance beats from Texas to Taiwan, from Holland to Hong Kong. And of course Manchester too.
Predictions on the night? Expect summer belters like their team-up with Roger Shah and Adrina Thorpe for Perfect Love, as well as Paul van Dyk’s now legendary I Don’t Deserve You, featuring Plumb. If you haven’t heard it yet, check it out here below.
We’ll see you there.
