Anderson has raised an eyebrow at rumours in Italy concerning his sexuality, by citing the fact that he does not have any televisions in his house.
The Manchester United midfielder, currently on loan at Fiorentina until the end of the season, was answering media questions at his unveiling in Florence.
When asked about his sexual preferences, Anderson – full name Anderson Luis de Abreu Oliviera – looked surprised and said it was the first he had heard of the apparently unfounded rumours.
“This is the first time I’ve heard this story. I respect gay people but I like women. I have four kids. We don’t have any TVs in my house.”
The Brazilian had fallen out of favour at Old Trafford following a seven-year stint in which he made just 179 appearances and scored nine goals.
He is one of several players thought to be included in David Moyes’ summer clear-out as the Scot looks to rebuild the squad in his own image.
While others have remained at United for the time being, Anderson’s time looks all but up after making the loan switch on January 18, a move which the player believes may turn permanent.
“I chose Fiorentina because they have a very interesting project here,” he said. “It’s a team that’s fighting at the top of the table to reach the Champions League.
“I’m here to show people what I can do and stay for many seasons.”
The former Porto man also spoke of how he will repay manager Vincenzo Montella’s faith in him by demonstrating his abilities out on the field.
“He’s shown great faith in me from day one and I’ll repay him by giving everything I’ve got on the pitch,” said Anderson.
“I started out as an attacking player and in England I learnt to defend too. Obviously I’m happy to do whatever the coach wants of me. Even play in goal.”
Fiorentina currently sit fourth in the Serie A table, three points off their target of a Champions League place.
