New Brentford manager Mark Warburton has hailed his squad the ‘best in the division’ ahead of the upcoming clash with Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
Fourth-placed Brentford appointed Warburton to replace Uwe Rosler, who left to take over the vacant managerial position at Wigan Athletic.
Warburton, who previously applied for the position in 2011 when he was interim first-team coach, did not hold back when talking about his playing and coaching staff.
“We have a great squad of players,” said the 51-year-old.
“I believe they are the best in the division and I believe we will get promotion.
“The support staff are the best in the division. Those guys are the Premier League class.”
Oldham will be looking to be get back to form against Brentford after suffering a heart-breaking exit in the Johnston’s Paint Trophy against Chesterfield on Tuesday night.
However it will be tough for the Latics to emerge with the three points, as Brentford are unbeaten in their last eight League One matches having won seven of them.
New manager Warburton spoke of his excitement at taking over the job on a permanent basis having previously applied for the role in 2011.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
“I am a little nervous. I am not used to the limelight. It will be a great experience.
“I hope we deliver a good performance that gives the supporters a reason to cheer on Saturday evening.”
Oldham will be without winger James Dayton, who suffered an ankle injury last weekend and will be on the sidelines for two-three weeks.
