Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes Old Trafford still has an aura and is expecting a reaction from Manchester United after Wednesday’s defeat to Everton.
Pardew won November’s Manager of the Month along with his goalkeeper Tim Krul who won Player of the Month.
While confident his side can get a win, Pardew believes United are still a dangerous proposition at Old Trafford.
“I think it’s still a very daunting place to go,” Pardew told reporters.
“There’s an aura about it. It’s a very difficult place to win and we’ve got to raise our game to a new level to win there – but we’re capable of doing that.
“I think there will be a reaction from Man United to their defeat.”
United lost their fourth game of the season at home to Everton on Wednesday and slipped to ninth in the Premier League, 12 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
Newcastle also lost away at Swansea – ending a run of five straight wins.
The Red Devils will be without Wayne Rooney on Saturday as the forward picked up his fifth booking of the season against Everton and is suspended.
Shinji Kagawa has been a key member of the United team in recent games but is a doubt due to illness.
United manager David Moyes will leave it late to decide whether to play Kagawa.
“I will see how he is tomorrow, we hope to have him available but he wasn’t too good after the game,” Moyes told reporters.
Moyes is hopeful that United can bounce back from their defeat against his former side Everton and is focusing on the positives from that game.
“There were chances in the Everton game that we didn’t take and the result could quite easily have been different,” he said.
“This was our first defeat in 13 games and I hope we can do something similar in the coming games.
“They are good players who have been here before, they know what is expected of them and they will do the right thing.”
