Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman believes there is no limit to what his side can achieve this season after the Trotters extended their unbeaten run to six games on Saturday.
Goals from David Ngog and Jermaine Beckford secured a 2-0 win away at Bournemouth, a result that gave Bolton only their second league win this season.
However Freedman now feels his young side can make up for their poor start and begin to move up the Championship table after they went 19th at the weekend, four clear of bottom side Yeovil.
“With the group of players I have got and the backing of the club we can achieve whatever we want to achieve,” Freedman told Sky Sports.
“We have had a disappointing start, we cannot forget that, and we have to make up for it now.”
Freedman has been critical of his side being unable to close out games this season but was pleased by his player’s efforts on Saturday.
“We showed how much quality and determination we have got and that can spring us up the table,” Freedman added.
Bolton went ahead in the 37th minute when Ngog rounded Cherries keeper Lee Camp to score his first of the season.
It was another former Premier League striker who secured the three points when Beckford’s stoppage-time effort was deflected past Camp.
Freedman’s side have lacked goals, scoring only 13 goals this season, so the Scot was pleased with the way his two strikers played.
“I think two-nil flattered Bournemouth in the end. We worked hard for each other and my two strikers got the goals they deserved.”
Freedman will now hope his strikers carry that form into next Saturday’s game at home to fellow strugglers Millwall.
Bolton are yet to win at home in the league this season but Freedman believes the confidence from the last six will inspire his side to keep the unbeaten run going.
“We have not been beaten that many times this season and are now looking at a team which is now six unbeaten. I feel we have enough in the dressing room to keep the run going.”
