Rob Marsden is adamant the Manchester Giants will be firing on all cylinders when the side entertain the Newcastle Eagles in the British Basketball League on Sunday.
The team have opened up the BBL season with three successive losses and face an Eagles side with two victories already under their belt.
But the Yorkshireman is confident the Giants can turnaround their dismal start to the campaign.
“Everybody is disappointed in our start, but we are remaining positive that with certain changes, our first win may not be too far around the corner,” he told the BBL website.
“I genuinely believe that when we gel and hit our higher gears, something I know we have but have not reached yet, we will be fine.
“We had not really played many preparation games, so personally I’m still getting comfortably with my team-mates and getting to know everybody’s respective games.”
The Findlay College graduate made the step up from Leeds Carnegie and the EBL during the summer and has impressed with a string solid performances so far this season.
The 6ft 7in forward battled during the 83-71 defeat against the Cheshire Phoenix last weekend and grabbed 12 points and ten rebounds.
“I believe we’ve played good spells of basketball, but we have also played some really bad basketball,” said Marsden.
“It seems that we have a bad quarter or period and we’re fighting for the rest of the game.
“If we begin to string together 40 consistent minutes with high energy and knock down some shots, then our bad start may soon be forgotten about.”
The Giants will be looking to put their first points on the board against an Eagles side still reeling from an overtime loss to Plymouth University Riders last weekend.
