Hyde boss Scott McNiven is hoping his side can pick up an elusive first win of the season at home to Braintree Town tomorrow.
The Tigers lost 3-0 to Lincoln City last weekend but the former Oldham Athletic defender is confident that the Braintree game will bring a more positive result.
Niven, who has been in charge of the Conference National side since May 2012, said: “They’re a big, strong and well-organised team so it will be a tough test, but one I’m sure our lads will relish it as we are desperate for our first win.
“They’re 5th in the league on merit but I’m hoping we can push on with no fear and go for a win.”
In the Conference North, Altrincham will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing exit in the FA Cup with a win at home to Guiseley.
The fans were understandably frustrated by the result and manager Lee Sinnott acknowledged that his players weren’t good enough: “I can understand 100 percent the supporters’ point of view, and how upset they were.”
Speaking ahead of the weekend’s game, Sinnott said his team were focused on the task at hand.
“After the disappointment of Saturday, all we are thinking of, as a unit, is putting it behind us and putting points on the board as quickly as we can,” he said.
While FA Cup survivors Stockport will also be in action against 16th place Worcester City at Edgeley Park after scraping through their cup tie with Brighouse Town.
The Hatters won that game 1-0, leaving boss Alan Lord to reflect on their defensive approach.
He said: “People say you need to set your team out not to lose and they’re spot on, that’s exactly what I do. I don’t like to lose and if you keep a clean sheet you’ve got a chance of getting a result.”
