Bolton boss Dougie Freedman has revealed to loanee Liam Feeney that he has ‘had his eye on him for years’ and believes the future looks bright for the 26-year-old.
Feeney agreed a three-month loan move to The Reebok from Millwall last month and is hopeful he can continue to shine for his new side.
The winger put in a man-of-the-match performance as Bolton won their first game of the season at Birmingham on Saturday and wants to continue to perform well.
“It’s an opportunity to try and do well and help the team and the club,” Feeney told Bolton’s official website.
“I’m just taking it week by week and not looking too far into the future, thinking about when it might be ending.”
Feeney was one of three loanees brought in by Dougie Freedman last month in a bid to turn around Bolton’s dismal start to the season.
The former Bournemouth midfielder has thanked Freedman for bringing him to the club and giving him the chance to play.
“He told me he’d been keeping an eye on me for a few years which was pleasing and nice to hear,” Feeney said.
“He just tells me to go out and enjoy my football and relax. He’s given me the opportunity and I can only thank him for that.”
