Manchester United’s wily winger Wilfred Zaha will earn his second international call up today when Roy Hodgson announces his squad to face Scotland next week.
The youngster has produced a series of stand-out performances during United’s pre-season tour that have convinced Hodgson that the player can make the cut at full international level.
Zaha, who made his England debut against Sweden in November, joined United this summer after an impressive season at Crystal Palace.
While the 20-year-old will definitely earn a place in Hodgson’s squad it is unclear whether his Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney will be included.
The striker is reportedly suffering from an injury that will keep him out of Rio Ferdinand’s Testimonial tomorrow and the Community Shield on Sunday.
Rooney is the subject of an on-going transfer saga that has seen Chelsea lodge two formal bids for the England star.
Should Hodgson decide to include Rooney in his squad it will add further fuel to the mounting fire that suggests the former fan favourite is close to an Old Trafford exit.
