Manchester United have concerns over Nani and Jonny Evans ahead of the new season after the duo picked up injuries in the club’s final match of their pre-season tours.
United took on AIK in Sweden last night in a match that ended 1-1.
However, the result was of little consequence and Moyes’ major concern will be injuries sustained to Nani and Evans.
“Jonny actually got kneed on the ankle. He thought that he was going to be able to run it off,” said Moyes.
“If we left him on then it would only have got worse for him.”
Moyes was also optimistic over Nani’s injury claiming that withdrawing the player was only a precaution.
“Nani just felt his groin tighten up and he didn’t want to take any risks. Neither did we. We thought it was safer to take him off at half time,” he said.
Despite the injuries Moyes was buoyed by the fact that club captain Nemanja Vidic and striker Robin Van Persie both completed 90 minutes.
“[Nemanja] was probably the big thing for us, to get him through the full game,” he said.
“Robin as well – he got 90 minutes. Robin has played in some of the other games but we wanted to make sure he had 90 minutes under his belt.”
