Manchester City’s spending will smash the £100million mark – as boss Manuel Pellegrini admitted the club still have business to take care of in the transfer market.
The Blues have brought in four major signings so far this summer with Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas, Stevan Jovetic, and Fernandinho all arriving to strengthen the ranks at the club.
With the total summer spending at Eastlands already in excess of £90million it is now expected that the mega-rich club will continue to buy players as they seek to recoup the Premier League title.
Speaking at a press conference in Hong Kong, City boss Pellegrini said: “Last year there was Balotelli and Tevez, so we had to replace two very good players with another two very good players.
“So, we have the month of July and some days of August to finish the squad completely.
“It’s not absolutely complete, but it’s very near to being complete.”
It has been widely speculated that the final piece of City’s jigsaw was an approach for Real Madrid defender Pepe.
However, Pellegrini refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with the Portuguese player.
“I don’t speak about rumours. I think today we have the players we need here,” he said.
“I just said that we will see what happens in this month and during August.
“I’m not talking about specific names because it’s not better for us, so I don’t talk about Pepe or any other names.”
