Mind game master Jose Mourinho’s attempts to turn up the heat on Manuel Pellegrini have failed as the Manchester City boss is facing the pressure head on.
The Chelsea boss had claimed that by splashing the cash this summer City were placing themselves under the spotlight.
However when asked about Mourinho’s comments at a press conference Pellegrini responded with nonchalance.
“I don’t have an opinion about what Mourinho says,” Pellegrini said.
“I think a big club like Manchester City always has a lot of pressure.
“It is important to play under pressure. I think players play better under pressure so we are not scared about that.”
Pellegrini was quizzed on his recent acquisitions and whether the additions to City’s strikeforce make them the most feared in the league.
“Yes, I think so. It is very strong” he said.
“I know Negredo very well from the Spanish league so it was not a surprise for me the way he played.
“I think we have very good strikers with Dzeko as well. They can play together or we can play one of them with Jovetic or Aguero.”
After spending £90million on new players the new City boss believes that his squad is ready for an assault on domestic and European titles.
“We have four very good strikers and that’s what you need if you play in the Premier League and Champions League as a competitive team.
“We are not just preparing a team, it’s important to prepare the whole squad and then we will see who plays.”
