Manchester City have announced a ground-breaking music and awards party, crammed with special guests from the world of sport, music and entertainment, to start next season with a bang.
City Live will be held on August 8 and will be the club’s first ever pre-season launch party.
The event, which will be held at Manchester Central, will see the presentation of last season’s awards alongside performances from some of the UK’s top musicians and comedians.
Commenting on the event, Manchester City Captain, Vincent Kompany, told mcfc.co.uk: “Manchester City and music have always gone hand-in-hand.
“It’s in the DNA of our fans and the very fabric of the football club.
“You only need to look around the Etihad Stadium on a match-day to regularly see musicians such as Noel & Liam Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Mike Pickering, Jimi Goodwin and Damon Gough to name but a few.”
Lifelong City fan and comedian Jason Manford will be one of many stars performing at the event.
The comedian, who hails from Manchester, is a regular on match-days, having grown up on the Kippax as a boyhood City fan.
Having already sold out two upcoming shows at the Manchester Arena, Manford will be making his hometown return in front of the Etihad’s finest.
In addition, the party will provide City fans with their first chance to get up close and personal with new arrivals Fernandinho and Jesus Navas, as well as new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Kompany added: “City Live is an opportunity for all our fans to come together to not only recognise the players contributions, celebrate their passion for football and music, but also find out first-hand what’s in store for what will hopefully be an unforgettable season to come.”
Following last season’s disappointing campaign the club will be hope that the event will be matched by an equally explosive start on the pitch when the season begins on August 17.
Tickets are available from Friday July 12 at 9am and can be purchased online at www.mcfc.co.uk/tickets, by calling 0161 444 1894 (option 1, 1, 2) or in-person at the Stadium Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the City Store.
