Rumours Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez could be joining AC Milan this summer have been rubbished by the one of the Serie A giants’ own players.
Conflicting reports quoting vice-president Adriano Galliani suggested the Rossoneri were chasing the Italian striker before he admitted they had yet to decide their transfer targets.
But Italy international full-back Ignazio Abate insists Milan’s wealth of attacking talent means they do not need the Blues’ star.
“We don’t need to sign Tevez,” TalkSport quotes Abate as saying.
“We have other great attackers, like (Giampaolo Pazzini).
“He could not play much last season due to injury but when he did he was very good.”
Abate is currently away at the Confederations Cup where Mario Balotelli, who made the move from Manchester to Milan in January, scored in Italy’s opening win against Mexico.
Another former City striker Robinho is believed to on his way out of Milan this summer however, but the Rossoneri look set to retain Stephan El-Shaarawy.
Were Tevez to join Milan – who he was also linked with in January last year after his infamous fall-out with City – he would be the fourth Blues player to make the move.
Alongside Balotelli and Robinho, midfield enforcer Nigel de Jong also joined the San Siro side from City last summer.
